FUN DONUT FACT:
The Largest Donut in the World Isn't for Eating
Randy's Donuts is a fun early 20th century building in Inglewood, California, as part of a programmatic architecture movement. (click here to look up programmatic architecture, to put it simply in the 20's and 30's business owners designed their buildings to look like what they sold or did)
So what does any of this have to do with the largest donut in the world?
In the programmatic architecture style Randy's Donuts (it was a chain and almost all have been demolished now) featured GIANT donuts on top of their buildings, these mammoth donuts (over 32 feet tall) although not for eating left no doubt what they sold, and maybe got some extra customers from passerby's...
The building was featured in the films Earth Girls Are Easy, Mars Attacks!, The Golden Child, Into the Night, Stripped to Kill, Problem Child 2, Breathless, Californication, California Girls, 2012, Iron Man 2, "Get Shorty", Volcano, Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles, Escape from Petropolis, Dope and Love Letters. It can be seen briefly with other world-famous monuments in the Futurama episode "When Aliens Attack." per Wikipedia.
In honor of Randy's next time your at DougBoys Donuts, skip the mini's or the regular donuts and go for our Big Boy. It's not quite 32 feet high, but it is a lot YUMMIER!!!!
